One of Southern California's most legendary grass-roots holiday light spectacles, the Thoroughbred neighborhood in Alta Loma/Rancho Cucamonga brings dozens of suburban blocks to life with awe-inspiring Christmas spirit. Neighbors collaborate to deck entire streets, rooflines, lawns, and driveways with elaborate synchronized musical light shows, life-sized Nativity scenes, whimsical animatronic figures, and soaring inflatables. Families can view the breathtaking displays from the warmth of their vehicles or stroll along sidewalks during designated early-season pedestrian nights. Local high school and youth groups frequently set up friendly sidewalk stands offering hot cocoa, cinnamon churros, and homemade holiday baked goods. Due to high vehicle traffic on peak weekends, arriving around twilight is strongly advised.
