The afternoon opens with an ice skating performance by Atlanta Figure Skating Club students around the new rink, followed by an Activity Row along the Boulevard with face painting, holiday crafts and a photo booth from 2 to 5 PM. Holiday performances take the stage in the late afternoon, the band The Big Beyond plays from 5:30, and at 7 PM Santa leads the countdown to the tree lighting. Avalon on Ice opens to the public the same day at 3 PM for anyone who wants to skate (separate ticket). Parking decks are free but fill fast; there is overflow parking with a shuttle at Gwinnett Technical College, and carpooling or ride-share is recommended. ## Similar picks in Atlanta - [Alpharetta Tree Lighting — Season of Celebration 2026](https://grassyknees.com/atlanta/activities/alpharetta-tree-lighting-season-of-celebration-2026--listing-49acbeb024c1e62762039aa9) — Sat, Nov 21 · 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM · Alpharetta City Hall, Downtown Alpharetta · Free · checked Oct 16.
