Leander and Cedar Park observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day together with a march and a stage celebration at the Cedar Park Recreation Center. The march leaves the recreation center at 10 a.m. and ends back inside, where the main stage program runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the 2027 theme 'Teach Them Well: The Future Starts with Us'. The schedule includes a flag ceremony by local Scouts, 'Lift Every Voice and Sing', readings by the essay contest winners, a keynote address, an LISD elementary choir and dance, music and spoken-word performances. With children performing and reading, it is a good way to introduce school-age kids to the holiday's meaning; strollers can join the short march. Organized by the City of Leander's Public Arts and Culture Commission with the City of Cedar Park.
