Thinkery – Del Valle is the Austin children's museum's neighborhood branch, housed at the Del Valle ISD Central Child Development Center in southeast Travis County. It is a play-based, mostly outdoor STEAM museum: the main play spaces are outside, including the Sustainable Springs water exhibit (fresh, filtered water refilled daily), with props for babies and toddlers that staff cycle out for disinfecting. Most families spend 60 to 90 minutes. It is open to the public on Friday evenings (5:30–7:30 p.m.) and Saturday mornings, with tickets reserved online. Admission is free for Del Valle residents; other visitors pay $9 for ages 1 and up ($7 for Thinkery members). An adult 18 or older must stay with children (1 adult per 5 children), shoes must be worn, and there is no food service, though snacks are allowed in the outdoor pavilion. Parking is free in front of the building and in the gravel overflow lot across the street; Cap Metro bus 271 stops nearby.
