The library describes it as an inclusive visit for people and children of all abilities, from age 4 up through teens and adults, and notes that reading to animals builds reading skills as well as social skills and emotional health. Reading to a dog that does not correct or interrupt is a low-pressure way for reluctant or anxious readers — and children who are just learning — to gain confidence. Sessions run for an hour on a Friday morning in the large meeting room.
