Checkers play runs from 10 a.m. to noon and chess from 1 to 4 p.m., and players compete over multiple rounds for first- and second-place trophies. The tournament is unranked: checkers follows standard Hasbro rules and chess follows FIDE rules, and the park district provides all game materials. It is open to players ages 8 and up, so school-age kids can enter alongside teens and adults. Players sign up in advance through the park district's online registration store; the fee is $12 for residents and $17 for nonresidents. ## Similar picks in Chicago - [Butterball Burner 5K Fun Run — Homewood](https://grassyknees.com/chicago/activities/butterball-burner-5k-fun-run-homewood--listing-0ac3e84020a57a6d347bd444) — Sun, Nov 22 · 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM · H-F Racquet & Fitness Club, Homewood · All ages · From $30 · checked Oct 27.
