The work is cutting down invasive plants: volunteers use hand tools to remove them, then build and burn brush piles. The nature center provides the tools and snacks. Volunteers must be 8 or older, and anyone 15 or younger must come with an adult. The workday lasts three hours and is free. Questions go to the nature center at 708-839-6897. ## Similar picks in Chicago - [Thanksgiving for Nature Scavenger Hunt at Hastings Lake](https://grassyknees.com/chicago/activities/thanksgiving-for-nature-scavenger-hunt-at-hastings-lake--listing-c0a9646a474f8c954ec8797f) — Sun, Nov 22 · 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM · Hastings Lake Forest Preserve — Shelter A, Lake Villa · From $5 · checked Oct 20.
