Over the first weekend of the new year, the Cincinnati Pops plays John Williams' score for Steven Spielberg's 1991 film Hook live to picture while the full movie runs on a big screen above the orchestra at Music Hall. The film stars Robin Williams as a grown-up Peter Pan, now a workaholic lawyer named Peter Banning, who returns to Neverland with Tinker Bell to rescue his children from Captain Hook; the orchestra describes the score as whimsical and poignant, capturing the wonder of Neverland and the nostalgia of childhood. Alex Amsel conducts. Performances are Saturday, January 2, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 3, at 2 p.m.. Tickets are sold only through the Music Hall Box Office (513.381.3300) and cincinnatisymphony.org.
