The City of Middletown and Middletown Cruise team up again for the Spooky Car Show & Trunk or Treat, which moves to a new home at Smith Park this year. On Saturday, October 24, decorated cars, trucks, Jeeps and motorcycles line up for a car show from 4 to 8 p.m. (early-bird registration for show cars at 2 p.m.), with guest judges scoring entries from 5 to 7 p.m. The part built for kids is the trunk-or-treat from 6 to 8 p.m., when vehicle owners hand out candy from their decorated vehicles to children of all ages; trophies are announced at 8 p.m., and local food trucks are on site. The event is free to attend and to enter, and costumes are highly encouraged for everyone. Families who want to decorate a car and hand out candy should bring their own candy, park by 5:30 p.m. and stay until 8:30 p.m. The city asks drivers to go slowly on the park grounds because of young trick-or-treaters.
