Both start in the parking lot in front of 3290 W. Big Beaver Road, and the course runs through neighborhoods and commercial streets on a mix of roads and sidewalks. The organizers say the 5K is the only USATF-certified 5K course in Michigan on Thanksgiving Day, and every participant gets a T-shirt and an award. Families can bring canned goods that are not past their expiration date: each can earns a raffle ticket and goes to Troy People Concerned, and race proceeds this year support Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers and Micah 6 Community. Online registration closes at midnight on Tuesday, November 24; packets can be picked up on Wednesday evening at the church on Coolidge Highway or from 7:30 a.m. on race morning, when in-person sign-ups are also taken. ## Similar picks in Detroit - [South Lyon Huffin' for the Stuffin' Thanksgiving 5K Fun Run/Walk](https://grassyknees.com/detroit/activities/south-lyon-huffin-for-the-stuffin-thanksgiving-5k-fun-run-walk--listing-1b2116c69aa3ae70c84e255d) — Thu, Nov 26 · 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM · Millennium Middle School (track), South Lyon · All ages · From $35 · checked Oct 30.
