A stationary tabling program at Sheldon Lake State Park & Environmental Learning Center about litter and decomposition. In the Picnic Area, park staff show how long it takes everyday things to decompose and why it is so important to put trash where it belongs to protect wild spaces; the program does not go out on the trails. It runs from 9 to 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 25. Bring water (there is a fountain at Heron Plaza near the restrooms), and wear lightweight layers, a hat and comfortable hiking shoes; sunscreen and bug spray are recommended. Sheldon Lake charges no entrance or day-use fee, and programs can move, be postponed or be cancelled for weather; the park posts updates in its Instagram and Facebook stories.
