On Saturday, October 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Houston Zoo holds its annual World Lemur Festival around the Wortham World of Primates. Teens from the zoo's year-round Zoo Crew run activities for all ages, including a scavenger hunt for hidden lemurs that teaches how varied lemur species are, games at the Reflection Pool, and a "We Love Lemurs" parade from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. Children are encouraged to come dressed as a lemur. A run of keeper chats focuses on animals from Madagascar: reptiles at 10 a.m., hissing cockroaches at the Bug House at 10:30, crowned lemurs at 11, fossa at 11:30, ring-tailed and red ruffed lemurs at noon and 12:30, and sacred ibis at 1 p.m. Families also hear how the zoo's partners protect lemurs in Madagascar. The festival is included with daytime general admission and free for members.
