The park has 4 miles of protected shoreline for swimming and beachcombing, and the calm waters of Salt Run are good for spotting wading birds such as roseate spoonbills from a canoe or kayak. The Ancient Dunes Nature Trail winds through the hammock, where painted buntings and warblers are common. Anastasia Watersports rents bicycles, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats and canoes, and the Island Beach Shop and Grill sits at the end of the main park drive.
