Homeschool Recreation gives Independence-area homeschoolers ages 6 to 18 a regular afternoon of PE-style games and rotating physical activities, with occasional crafts, museum visits or outdoor outings. Each session introduces a new game, helping children stay active and build physical and social skills with other homeschool families. Most sessions meet at 2 p.m. at the Roger T. Sermon Community Center; the October 22 session is a special excursion with a tour at the National Frontier Trails Museum (416 W Maple). Drop-off is easy for parents who want to leave, and parents are also welcome to stay. Cost is $4 per child or $15 for a family of four or more children; register early, and call (816) 325-7370 with questions.
