West Wyandotte Library's survival skills session starts with first aid basics before winter: how to apply and wrap a bandage, basic bleeding control, what to do if someone is choking including the Heimlich manoeuvre, and frostbite awareness. The second half covers the atlatl, an ancient spear-throwing tool, with a short history, an explanation of how it works, a demonstration of proper technique and safety, and time to practise throwing. The program runs 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, in the auditorium. Registration is required; the page does not state an age range.
