The 49th annual Dana Point Turkey Trot fills Dana Point Harbor on Thanksgiving morning; the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce calls it one of the nation's largest and most scenic turkey trots. The USA Track & Field-certified event has a 10K at 7 a.m., three 5K starts (8:30, 9:30 and a new, relaxed 10 a.m. 'Walk the Trot' wave meant for walkers, families and strollers), a combined 10K/5K, and the Kids' 1-Mile Gobble Wobble for ages 2 to 12 at 10:30 a.m. Parents can add an Adult Gobble Buddy to a child's registration to do the mile together; spots are limited. There is also a costume contest at the start line at 9 a.m. and a health and fitness expo. Registration includes a T-shirt, finisher medal and bib (the kids' mile is not timed) and is non-refundable; the race goes ahead rain or shine. Strollers are allowed at the back of the corral; dogs are not.
