On select Tuesday evenings the Aquarium of the Pacific keeps Shark Lagoon open from 6 to 9 p.m. for free. Visitors can touch smaller sharks such as bamboo sharks at the touch pools and watch rays and large sharks in the lagoon habitat. Only Shark Lagoon is open during these nights, with drinks and snacks for sale. Reservations are required because of demand, and tickets are released one date at a time: the October 20 date is already sold out, and reservations for the next date open October 21 at 9 a.m. PT. The remaining dates in the window are November 10 and November 24. Evenings are weather-dependent and can be cancelled. A good short outing for school-age kids who want hands-on time with sharks without paying full admission.
