It started in the mid-1950s, when Hollywood merchants organized it to draw visitors downtown; today dozens of lighted floats, marching bands and decorated vehicles pass thousands of spectators lined up along the sand. The parade steps off at 7 PM at Missouri Street and travels south to Harrison Street, with the emcee stationed at the Hollywood Beach Theatre at Johnson Street. Families are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Hollywood Fire Rescue Toy Drive; city staff collect donations at the Beach Theatre. ## Similar picks in Miami - [Lake Worth Beach Holiday Parade — A Sweet 60th Celebration in Candyland](https://grassyknees.com/miami/activities/lake-worth-beach-holiday-parade-a-sweet-60th-celebration-in-candyland--listing-cdbe485b3fb479fddba3d082) — Sat, Dec 5 · 6:00 PM · Downtown Lake Worth Beach · All ages · Free · checked Oct 16.
