## About

First Stage sets aside one performance of its holiday musical Dr. Seuss's How the Grinch Stole Christmas! as a sensory-friendly show, so that families with children who need sensory accommodations can see the Whos of Whoville and the Grinch together without worrying about noise, darkness or sitting still. Loud or jarring sounds and flashing or strobe lights are reduced, the house lights stay on at a lower level, and audience members are free to talk or move during the show. Before the curtain, a pre-show demonstration lets children meet actors in costume and preview any light or sound cues. Families may bring noise-cancelling headphones or fidgets, and sensory bags with fidget tools and headphones can be borrowed from the House Manager. Lobby TV monitors show the performance if someone needs a break outside the theater, and First Stage offers a social narrative of the Todd Wehr Theater (plus a show-specific one closer to the date). If the day turns out not to be right for your family, tickets can be exchanged or refunded. First Stage recommends the show for ages 5 and up.
