It is listed with the county's teen and adult activities and is open to ages 12 and up, so it works for a parent and a middle- or high-school student who want to pick up a new winter sport together. No skiing experience is needed: participants are taught the basics on the park's trails, and skis and the rest of the equipment are provided, so there is nothing to rent or buy beforehand. The county pitches cross-country skiing as good exercise that is easy to learn with good instruction and a fun way to spend time outdoors in winter. Dress in layers for an afternoon outside. Registration is through the Anoka County Parks online system and closes two days before the lesson; the fee is $18 per participant. ## Similar picks in Minneapolis - [Family Classic Cross-country Ski Lessons at Hyland Lake Park Reserve](https://grassyknees.com/minneapolis/activities/family-classic-cross-country-ski-lessons-at-hyland-lake-park-reserve--listing-9154a4f848a9841cdaae6e7d) — Sun, Dec 13 (+6 more dates) · Hyland Lake Park Reserve, Bloomington · Ages 6+ · From $22 · checked Oct 24.
