Education animals include owls, a hawk and snakes, and staff run nature programs at the center and on nearby trails. From the station, about 5 miles of trails cross a 275-acre backcountry; the paved section runs through hardwood forest above limestone outcrops to the River Overlook, and the first 0.7 mile is a 12-station Tree Trail with a guide available inside. The gift shop sells nature toys, books and snacks. Saturday birthday-party programs can be booked by phone. ## Similar picks in Nashville - [Family Campout at Barfield Crescent Park](https://grassyknees.com/nashville/activities/family-campout-at-barfield-crescent-park--listing-cdff1b344659ab4d74d67b67) — Sat, Nov 7 · 2:00 PM – 9:00 AM · Wilderness Station at Barfield Crescent Park, Murfreesboro · All ages · From $10 · checked Oct 24.
