## About

Mahopac Public Library opens its Lake View Room for long, unstructured play sessions aimed at children from 18 months to 4 years and the grown-ups who come with them. The room is set up with the library's collection of learning toys, from building blocks to a light table, and caregivers stay engaged alongside their children, using the play to introduce new words and concepts. Library staff frame it as practice for language, social and small-motor skills rather than a class, so families can arrive and leave whenever suits nap times within the four-and-a-half-hour window. There is no registration and no fee listed. Sessions run on Fridays and on some Mondays through the fall and December, including during the holiday school break on December 28; the library's December calendar lists sessions on December 4, 7, 11, 14, 18 and 28. Children in fifth grade and under must be accompanied by an adult in the building at all times under library policy.
