Tweens build a classic wooden whirligig at the West Branch library in Longwood and learn the simple physics behind it: spin the toy and momentum winds it back on itself for as long as you keep pulling the strings. The hour-long workshop mixes a little history, a little science and hands-on making, and everyone takes home their toy. Exclusively for ages 8-12; pre-registration is required and space is limited. Free.
