The evening is aimed at families: children can visit with Santa and pick up a bag of treats, and carolers perform while the town tree is lit on Main Street. It runs from 5:30 to 8 pm, so families with young children can come for the lighting and a Santa visit and still be home early. The listing does not mention a fee. A week later, on December 11, downtown merchants hold a Christmas Cookie Throwdown where visitors sample cookies, vote for a favorite and take photos at the tree. ## Similar picks in Philadelphia - [West Chester Tree Lighting and Hometown Christmas Parade](https://grassyknees.com/philadelphia/activities/west-chester-tree-lighting-and-hometown-christmas-parade--listing-1f358336791d560c93326ff0) — Fri, Dec 4 · 6:30 PM · Downtown West Chester · Free · checked Oct 20.
