Nature Explorers is Elmwood Park Zoo's program series for children ages 3 to 5. Each 30–45 minute session covers one topic through up-close animal encounters, crafts, storytelling and hands-on lessons, and class sizes are small. Upcoming sessions: Nature and Art (October 22, 10:15 AM), where children practise fine-motor skills by sketching one of the zoo's animals; Owls (November 5, 12:15 PM), with an owl activity, biofacts and a real owl; and Coatis (November 19, 12:15 PM), all about the coatimundi, a staff favorite, with a chance to meet one up close. An adult must accompany each child. Registration is required, paid zoo admission is needed for adults and children, and a $5 per-child materials fee is collected at the start (cashless). Meeting locations are emailed before each date.
