Children first learn the basics of how binary works, then use a binary alphabet as their guide to turn letters into code and spell out a secret message with colorful beads. Everyone leaves with a personalized take-home project and a first look at the language of computers. The class is strictly for ages 6 to 11: the library says a wider age range makes it hard for the facilitators to keep the group engaged, so plan accordingly if you have younger or older siblings along.
