A hometown tradition of more than 50 years honouring military veterans. The parade starts at 10 AM at ASU Gammage and heads north on Mill Avenue through Downtown Tempe to Tempe Beach Park at Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway, finishing around noon. Marchers include Tempe City Council members, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, local school marching bands, community groups and veterans organisations, and volunteers hand out thousands of small flags to children and veterans along the route. It is an easy, free-to-watch outing for families with kids of any age; bring water, sun protection and something to sit on for the curb.
