S'edav Va'aki Museum, the City of Phoenix's archaeological museum and Hohokam village site, joins the Arizona Territory Gourd Society on Veterans' Day for a free Gourd Dance and Community Potluck honouring all veterans who have served the nation. Gourd dancing, a Native American veterans' tradition, begins at 11:30 a.m.; the gathering runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families with school-age children can watch the dance, share in the potluck and talk with veterans, which makes it a meaningful way to mark the school holiday. The gourd dance and potluck are free for everyone; regular museum admission fees and discounts apply if you also tour the galleries and the outdoor ruins trail. Vendors take part by invitation only.
