Local artist Maria DeSimone Prascak of Maria's Ideas leads a two-hour painting class at the National Aviary in which participants paint a portrait of Gus the Great Argus, one of the Aviary's best-known birds. She gives simple step-by-step instructions, and the class is designed for painters of all ages and abilities, so a parent and child can paint side by side. All materials and National Aviary general admission are included, so families can visit the birds before or after. The class runs from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 15: members $40, non-members $45. Registration is online.
