Pine Township offers the Safe Sitter babysitting course for students in grades 6 to 8 who are getting ready to stay home alone or watch younger siblings. Over two afternoon sessions, participants learn safety and emergency preparedness, behaviour management, how to handle illness and injury, and the business side of babysitting. The course covers choking response but not CPR. Students must attend both November 3 and November 4 (4:30-6:30 p.m.) to earn certification, and each receives a Safe Sitter drawstring bag; they may bring snacks. Fees: $45 for residents and member non-residents, $50 for non-residents.
