The performance tells the familiar story of Clara, the Nutcracker Prince, the Rat King and other favorite characters from the ballet, giving young children a close-up look at ballet in a relaxed setting rather than a big theater. The library lists it for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, kids, teens and adults, so the whole family can come together, and it suits little ones who might not sit through a full-length Nutcracker. It takes place on a Saturday morning in early December. Arrive a little early to find a spot near the hearth. ## Similar picks in Portland - [George Balanchine's The Nutcracker (Oregon Ballet Theatre)](https://grassyknees.com/portland/activities/george-balanchine-s-the-nutcracker-oregon-ballet-theatre--listing-2a055870587f584e5f1a201c) — Sat, Dec 5 (+10 more dates) · 2:00 PM · Keller Auditorium · Paid · checked Oct 14.
