Portland Revels' annual Midwinter Revels is a winter solstice celebration in song, dance and storytelling, with a large community cast that includes children. The 2026 show, Bread & Roses, follows a group of workers and their families at the height of the holiday season who learn their wages will be cut and decide to fight for a better life, finding joy and community in the music and folktales of their many traditions. Expect early 20th century American songs alongside music from around the world, plus the audience sing-alongs Revels is known for. This year the production returns to the historic Scottish Rite Center in Goose Hollow. Matinees on Dec. 12 (ASL interpreted) and Dec. 13 (audio described) are the easiest fit for families with young children. Arrive 20 to 35 minutes early to check in at the main door on SW Morrison; concessions and a gift shop open 30 minutes before curtain. Street parking is very limited, so MAX (Blue and Red lines, Providence Park) or the bus is recommended.
