## About

A large museum of natural, social and local history on Johnny Cake Hill that tells how New Bedford shaped global trade, migration and innovation. Children can climb aboard the huge model whaling ship Lagoda and stand under five whale skeletons, including a blue whale. Hands-on interactives include a sand table, an augmented-reality whale tablet, an ecosystem display and smellable exhibit items. Free guided Highlights Tours (45–60 minutes) leave from the main entrance at 11am and 2pm daily, and roughly 30-minute 3D movies show five times a day for an extra fee ($6, or $4 with museum admission). Visits typically take one to three hours, and same-day re-entry is allowed with a receipt. Children under 14 must be accompanied. Free lockers are available for bags.
