Instead of an evergreen, the town lights a Lobster Pot Tree made from traps donated by Sakonnet Lobster, a nod to the town's fishing heritage. After the lighting there is holiday music, plus s'mores and hot chocolate on the beach, which makes it an easy, short outing for families with young children. The town asks everyone to dress warmly, since the whole event is outdoors by the water in early December. ## Similar picks in Providence - [Bowen's Wharf Christmas Tree Lighting with Santa's Boat Arrival](https://grassyknees.com/providence/activities/bowen-s-wharf-christmas-tree-lighting-with-santa-s-boat-arrival--listing-10e1b8d272e8e775b74411eb) — Sat, Dec 5 · 12:30 PM · Bowen's Wharf, Newport · All ages · Free · checked Oct 27.
