The two-hour evening gathers residents downtown for the countdown and the lighting of the town's Christmas tree, a short, free-to-attend community tradition that suits families with young children because it ends by 8 pm. Plan to arrive early to park and find a spot near the tree, dress warmly, and bring a flashlight or glow stick for small children. The following evening, Friday, December 4, the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association holds its First Friday sip-and-stroll downtown, and the town's Christmas Parade follows on Sunday, December 6, so the tree lighting opens a full weekend of downtown holiday events. ## Similar picks in Raleigh - [Christmas Village and Tree Lighting — Clayton](https://grassyknees.com/raleigh/activities/christmas-village-and-tree-lighting-clayton--listing-3e587039a915837153627eb5) — Thu, Dec 3 · 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM · Downtown Clayton — Main Street (Horne Square to Town Square) · All ages · checked Oct 27.
