United Strings of Color began in Raleigh in 2018 as an outreach string quartet of African American musicians working to address racial disparity in classical music through music education and community engagement. Each 45-minute pop-up set takes place among the artworks, so families can hear strings up close in a relaxed setting where children can listen while looking at the art rather than sitting through a formal concert. The performance is repeated at 11 am and 1 pm on the same Saturday. Admission is free, and seating is limited and first come, first served, so arrive a little early if young children need a seat. ## Similar picks in Raleigh - [Holiday Pops and Ugly Sweater Night — NC Symphony](https://grassyknees.com/raleigh/activities/holiday-pops-and-ugly-sweater-night-nc-symphony--listing-1d1b865848659c9257e07747) — Fri, Dec 11 (+1 more date) · 7:30 PM · Meymandi Concert Hall, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts · Paid · checked Oct 24.
