Visitors wander through the historic building decked out in nineteenth-century holiday finery while carolers in Dickensian costume sing in the halls. Children make a Christmas craft to take home, and the whole family can snack on festive cookies and cider. It is a gentle, indoor stop that works well for younger children and grandparents, and it fits neatly into the same afternoon as the town's Tree Lighting Celebration: when the open house winds down, walk south along Academy Street to Downtown Cary Park for the 6 pm tree lighting. The Town of Cary pages do not print an admission charge for the open house, so check with the Page-Walker if you need to confirm before visiting. ## Similar picks in Raleigh - [Christmas Village and Tree Lighting — Clayton](https://grassyknees.com/raleigh/activities/christmas-village-and-tree-lighting-clayton--listing-3e587039a915837153627eb5) — Thu, Dec 3 · 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM · Downtown Clayton — Main Street (Horne Square to Town Square) · All ages · checked Oct 27.
