The City of Palm Springs presents its 29th annual Veterans Day Parade on Palm Canyon Drive in downtown Palm Springs. About 60 entries, including marching bands, military equipment and veterans' organizations, step off at 3:30 p.m. from Ramon Road and travel north roughly one mile to Alejo Road; the parade lasts about an hour. An opening ceremony begins at the main stage at Amado Road and Palm Canyon Drive, followed at about 4:30 p.m. by a free post-parade patriotic concert with the 300th Army Reserve Band and a fireworks finale at about 5:00 p.m. launched from O'Donnell Golf Course behind the stage. Viewing is free and needs no tickets; limited free bleachers sit just north and south of the review stand on a first-come basis, and families may bring lawn chairs, blankets and their own food (no alcohol). Arrive about an hour early for a good spot and agree on a meeting point, since crowds run into the thousands. A sign-language interpreter is at the main stage and two designated accessible viewing areas are provided. It goes ahead rain or shine.
