The Museum of Riverside's Victorian Dark Carnival at Heritage House on Saturday, October 17, 2026 (noon to 4 pm) is not a midway fair but a gathering of curiosities and amusements as Victorians knew them. Visitors can sit in on 'Tea with the Undertaker' about Riverside funeral director Stephen Squire and his wife Marion Mingo Squire, meet a 'mermaid', sample a cure-all pitch, consult a tarot reader, view oddities in jars and join a free activity. House tours on Victorian mourning and death customs can be booked separately. Best for older children and teens who enjoy history with a spooky twist; admission to the carnival is free.
