## About

Buena Vista Audubon leads a monthly first-Saturday bird walk at Whelan Lake Bird Sanctuary in Oceanside. Walkers explore several areas around the lake on an easy-to-moderate route of a little over 2 miles with some steep stretches; a restroom is available. The gate is open only from 7:45 to 8:00 am, so arriving on time is essential: latecomers cannot get in. The walk suits school-age children who can manage two miles and an early start. Bring binoculars if you have them, water and sturdy shoes. Walk leader Patti Langen can be contacted through the address on the listing.
