Families can see the zoo's animals, then ride the family-friendly rides: the iconic Danny the Dragon train has carried visitors since 1961, and the Keep-Around Carousel is a favorite photo spot. The park has one of the oldest and best-attended puppet theaters in California, and the Crooked Meadow stage hosts seasonal shows; costumed characters such as Danny the Dragon, Captain Conservation and Petal the Fairy turn up for occasional meet-and-greets. Part of every ticket goes to Quarters for Conservation, which funds wildlife research and conservation. The park does not hand out printed maps; download the PDF map before you go.
