## About

Hellyer County Park Velodrome, built in 1963, is the only velodrome in Northern California, and its Harry Lee Junior/U23 Development program gets young riders onto the banked track. Tuesday-afternoon sessions mix skills and conditioning work under volunteer coaches, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and respect over winning, and riders join regardless of club affiliation. Riders must be able to follow coaches' instructions, be tall enough for the bikes (about a 21-inch inseam and 56 inches tall), and sign a waiver with a parent; sessions are booked online in advance. Bring a helmet (free rentals available), exercise clothes, closed-toe athletic or cycling shoes, water and snacks; rental track bikes are available, and riders can bring their own pedals and cleats. New riders of any age can also start with the velodrome's Saturday beginner structured training sessions. Spectating at the velodrome is free.
