For families, the day-use area has a one-mile nature trail that shows off the park's plants and animals and a forty-acre grassy picnic area with tables year round, and the Lake Ranch Trail is a shaded, easy hike between Lake Ranch and Black Road. Experienced hikers have more than 22 miles of trail. An RV campground is open year round; hike-in tent camping is closed from the third Sunday in October to the third Friday in March, and car camping is not allowed.
