Hilltop Artists, the Tacoma nonprofit glass program founded in 1994 for young people, opens its hot shop at Hilltop Heritage Middle School on Sunday, October 18 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm as part of the Tacoma Arts Month Studio Tour. Visitors can watch students create glass art, tour the space and learn about the many uses of glass; the gallery is open for the sale of student-made glass (with pumpkins possibly in hiding). The same day the studio classroom hosts the REFRACT Open Artist Studio Tour with demonstrations from teaching artists and students including Tony Sorgenfrei, Zane Scott and others. The citywide studio tour is described as family friendly and free.
