ZooTampa at Lowry Park opens early for a sensory-friendly morning aimed at autistic guests, their families and anyone else who benefits from a calmer zoo visit. From 8:00 to 9:30 AM only Day of Discovery participants are inside, with adapted lighting and sound, quiet zones around the zoo, and games, activities, animal mingles and rides. Families can download social stories and parent tips beforehand from the zoo's accessibility page or the Center for Autism & Related Disabilities (CARD) website, and distraction packs are available at Guest Services. When the zoo opens to the public at the end of the session, participants may stay and keep exploring. The event is free for zoo members; non-members pay $5 in advance or $8 on the day, with on-site sales ending at 9 AM. Tickets are sold through the zoo's online shop.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
Read with WebFetch (zootampa.org returns 403 to curl). Page prints 'November 8 @ 8:00 am - 9:30 am' without a year; the URL slug and the zoo's events API (start_date 2026-11-08) give 2026.
