Families with young children can catch the early show at 8 p.m. and be home by bedtime, while older kids and night owls can stay to welcome the new year with the midnight fireworks. The city suggests making a day of it: First Night Alexandria runs ticketed arts and family activities earlier in the day around Old Town, then everyone heads to the waterfront for the fireworks. ## Similar picks in Washington, DC - [Noon Year's Eve Celebration at White Oak Library](https://grassyknees.com/washington-dc/activities/noon-year-s-eve-celebration-at-white-oak-library--listing-b0f234f6f1a7b573b52fdf59) — Thu, Dec 31 · 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM · White Oak Library, Silver Spring · Free · checked Oct 20.
