The hour combines hands-on activities, short hikes, crafts and more, and is designed to spark curiosity and encourage exploration in young nature lovers. The December session falls on the first Saturday morning of the month, so expect cold-weather conditions on the short walks: dress children in layers and shoes that can get muddy. Registration is required through the City of Rockville recreation system (Rockville residents could register from August 11, everyone else from August 13), and the city listing does not print the fee, so check cost and remaining space when registering. Croydon Creek also runs the calmer Gentle Explorers class for the same age group. ## Similar picks in Washington, DC - [Animal Encounters at Mount Rainier Nature Center](https://grassyknees.com/washington-dc/activities/animal-encounters-at-mount-rainier-nature-center--listing-909679c4631f3e34bdad51e1) — Sat, Nov 28 · 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM · Mount Rainier Nature Center · Ages 2+ · From $4 · checked Oct 30.
