About this adventure

For over three decades, Los Rios Rancho in the mountain apple foothills of Oak Glen has hosted the beloved Apple Butter Festival over Thanksgiving weekend. The festival marks the triumphant close of the autumn apple harvest by reviving an Old World tradition: simmering late-season apples into sweet, dark apple butter in a historic 100-year-old copper kettle over an open fire pit. Families can take a turn stirring the giant copper vat with wooden paddles, take tractor-drawn wagon rides through heritage apple orchards, listen to live mountain bluegrass music, and explore nature trails. The country store and bakery offer scratch-baked apple pies, fresh hot cider, and jars of warm apple butter to take home.
