The George Washington Carver Museum's annual Halloween-day fall festival in East Austin. Families get free pumpkins to carve (two per family while supplies last) and can enter the costume contest for a prize; there are also games, arts and crafts, a petting zoo, a haunted maze and food. The festival runs from noon to 3 p.m., which makes it a daytime Halloween option for toddlers and young children before evening trick-or-treating, while older kids can tackle the maze. It is free and open to all; the museum also lists a free Eventbrite registration. The museum, cultural and genealogy center is run by the City of Austin.
