For three nights before the drive-through season opens, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County lets families park and walk the Lights on the Bay route at Sandy Point State Park with their dogs on leash, instead of seeing the light displays from the car. It is a relaxed evening stroll past the sparkling displays along the Chesapeake Bay, and Santa is scheduled to visit during Lights & Leashes for photos with pets and families. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m., and everyone must be out of the park by 9 p.m. Admission is charged per car, and proceeds support the animals in the SPCA's care. Good for families with dogs and children who can manage an evening walk; dress warmly.
